Recovery Assessment of Permanent Housing after the 2004 Tsunami in Thailand toward Sustainable Planning

In this study, a recovery assessment of the permanent housing and living conditions in aftermath 2004 Tsunami Phang-nga Province, Thailand, was conducted using geoinformatics technologies, field observations, living-related parameters from basic minimum need (BMN) data retrieved Ministry Interior. results, 29 projects were mapped, classified into five sizes (very small, medium, large, very large), overlaid with tsunami-inundated zone visually interpreted satellite images. Thirteen out twenty-nine reconstructed inundation (in situ), while rest relocated to higher ground. Permanent houses rebuilt 18 communities three patterns: single-story or one-story (511 houses), raised-basement (58 two-story (712 houses).
